Kahuna Mapura

The Great Earth Mother — Guardian of Life and Creation

Kahuna Mapura is an embodiment of the Great Earth Mother, the ancient feminine force that gives birth to, nourishes, and sustains all life.

Half woman, half turtle, she represents the sacred connection between humanity, the animal kingdom, and the living Earth. Her pregnant belly takes the form of a turtle shell, symbolizing the womb of creation, protection, fertility, and the eternal cycles of life.

Inspired by ancient Indigenous creation stories in which the world is carried upon the back of a great turtle, Kahuna Mapura reminds us of a time when humanity understood itself as an inseparable part of nature.

Her roots reach deep into the Earth, connecting her to the wisdom of the ancestors and the invisible networks that sustain life. With her eyes gently closed, she embodies the stillness, patience, and profound knowing of Mother Earth.

Through Kahuna Mapura, I invite us to remember that we do not simply live upon the Earth — we belong to her.

She is the mother, the womb, the protector, and the ancient wisdom that lives within us all.

A reminder of a time when we remembered we were one.
